Originally from the small town of Xanthi in Greece, Konstantinos Komninos pursued a bachelor’s degree in economics and then moved to the Netherlands for a master’s degree in marketing. As CLIQ’s first Digital Marketing hire six years ago, he has witnessed and contributed to the team’s growth from a single member to 24. Now serving as the Head of the Digital Marketing Team, Konstantinos has learned the value of working with reliable and skilled colleagues. He believes that these relationships have been crucial to CLIQ’s success during his tenure.

We recently sat down with him for an interview to delve deeper into his experiences and insights.

Hi, Konstantinos! What did you want to become as a kid?

I do not remember what I wanted to become as a kid. Probably, a professional basketball player or an astronaut. But as I grew up, I discovered my passion for connecting with people, listening to their stories, and understanding them better. That’s what led me to a career in marketing.

What is your biggest strength and what is your biggest weakness?

To get the correct answers better ask my colleagues and friends for this! In my opinion, my biggest strength is being calm and empathetic. My biggest weakness is that I get bored quite quickly.

What does a regular workday look like for you?

So, my workdays have been quite dynamic lately. I’ve been putting a lot of emphasis on supporting my colleagues’ wellbeing, refining our team’s strategy, and stepping into more of an advisory role. Typically, I kick off my day by checking my to-do list and catching up with my team during our stand-up. From there, it’s a mixed bag – lots of meetings on some days where I’m juggling tasks and organising follow-ups in between. On quieter days, you’ll find me knee-deep in updating our organisation systems like Monday.com or Excel spreadsheets, ensuring everything’s running smoothly. Oh, and as a member of the Works Council, I carve out time for anything related to CLIQ’s employees and operations.

And Cliq Music Stations are always there to help me focus. Here’s some inspiration: Cliq Music Station.

What was the biggest challenge you have overcome so far?

Fortunately, I never had big challenges in my life. I believe every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow, and that is what I am trying to do. For example, in my new position as the Head of Digital Marketing, I had to stop doing operational work and focus more on my colleagues and the overall strategy of our team.

What always helps is having amazing people around you, friends, family and colleagues to support me!

How do you define success?

Success, to me, is all about happiness. It’s those moments when you’re genuinely content — whether it’s celebrating a major win at work, sharing a laugh with a colleague, or simply investing in some well-deserved relaxation time. Success isn’t just about reaching milestones or hitting targets; it’s about finding joy in both the big and small things in life.

When was the last time you changed your mind about something important?

The last time I changed my mind about something important was related to my long-term plans. I moved to the Netherlands for my master’s degree 12 years ago with the intention of eventually returning to Greece to be closer to my family and culture. However, over the years, as I settled into life here and pursued my career, my priorities evolved.

What makes you truly happy?

The first day of the year, I can stay outside during the night without having to carry a jacket with me. And especially if I am spending this day with my best friends or family.

Describe how you envision a regular Monday in 5 years.

I don’t like to think about how my life will be in the distant future. Whether it’s a Monday or a Sunday, what matters most to me is being happy and surrounded by the people I love.

Digital marketing is constantly evolving. How do you personally stay ahead of the curve, and what digital marketing trend do you believe will have the most significant impact on our industry in the next five years?

Absolutely, keeping up with the ever-evolving landscape of digital marketing is challenging. Personally, I make sure to stay ahead of the curve by continuously learning and exploring new technologies and trends in the field. Now, if we’re talking about the next big thing that will shape our industry in the coming years, I’d definitely place my bet on Artificial Intelligence (AI). It’s no longer just a buzzword; it’s becoming increasingly integral to our work.

In the short term, AI is set to revolutionise productivity for marketers and designers alike. Think about it – creating ad assets such as headlines, descriptions, or even images could soon be as simple as a click of a button, thanks to AI-powered tools. However, as AI takes care of the more mechanical aspects of marketing, we’ll need to shift our focus towards the human side of things. Understanding the psychology of our audience and finding creative, authentic ways to connect with them will become paramount. After all, it’s not just about pushing out messages; it’s about fostering genuine trust and engagement with our audience. So, integrating AI into our workflow while staying rooted in human-centric marketing strategies will be key in navigating the digital landscape of the future.
